VFR NC30 starting problems

hey people been a long time! where is everybody!
is graeme france around still?

basicly my bike has been sitting in garage for a year... didnt expect it to start first time and knew it was gonna be a problem!
i have had the bike on treacle charge so battery is perfect.
i put fresh fuel and new air filter and new fuel tap, fuel is getting through checked that.
i have managed to start the bike with the easy start stuff and the bike runs perfect on idle and doesnt cut out.
but when i went back to bike next day it would not start, it feels like it wants to catch but maybe the spark isnt there!
im guessing if i change the spark plugs this should cure the problem? they have been in bike for 2 years (1year not active)
were is best place to get spark plugs from? i just need some for normal running around in! o and how much is road tax?

Hi, you can get ngk's from rick oliver or have a look on ebay there's some i've seen on there quite cheap at the minute.
Road tax is £33 for the nc30's, just nip up your local post office with your v5 and buy it from there.

If it runs smoothly and starts easy then i doubt it's spark plugs, i reckon your regulator/rectifier has had it.

noooo i think ya miss read i am using a product called "easy start" you spray it into the air intake.
but once it starts it runs smooth.
im saying it doesnt seem to spark normally

Your carbs will need stripping and cleaning to get rid of the gunge that has built up over that year.

Regulator/rectifier or ecu.

the reg rec wouldnt stop the bike from starting so long as the battery is charged then it would start.....could be the cdi unit,if that was gubbed then it wouldnt start..... :D

I think it's likely to be petrol related rather than sparks if you had it running before. I've found the NC35 quite easy to flood and then it wouldn't want to restart.

If I had to guess I'd say your carbs are gummed up and unless you changed the petrol already I'd drain and refill with fresh for a start. Worth taking out the spark plugs and either replacing them or at least cleaning them.

A possible quick fix is to pop the airbox lid off, remove the filter and make sure all the slides actually slide, they gum up and if they wont move you wont be able to rev it.
