'86 1WG full exhaust system

Post by mjt-fzr-88 »

I've currently got what my mates state as a home made end can on what i believe is the standard cut down exhaust.

The problem i got is that it's rusted and got shit, it's now blowing and i've been looking for replacement downpipes or a full race system for cheap.

Anyone able to point me in the right direction?

Cheers

That will depend on what you call cheap ...

Stainless steel and described as a semi race item is Sandy Bike Spares system at £289 ... not so bad for a new item but maybe a little more than what you were thinking of ... ?

However you could be a very lucky man ... currently on Das Bay we have an auction from DK Spares currently at £70 no bids and 5days to go

There is one other system at £34 ... but it's a bit rusty and says it needs a bit of welding.

I'd go for the middle set first then the new stainless ones if you don't win them. The last set will cost you to buy, and cost you to repair and probably again when you need to replace them again.

Have been looking but not come up with anything as of yet :(

Is there any other bikes out there that might be similar enough to be able to put straight on with minimal mods?

I gave you the links above ... and the middle one sold with one bid. Systems for the 400's aren't so common so your only choice is to buy it or not and £70 is cheap considering the bike's knackered without it.

Get your downpipes welded or watch e-bay your bike only had a full system so to get a can is tricky. You can try a 1wg (3en1 or 3en2 model) something like an Art / Carbon Can Co / or ring AA16 http://www.aa16.co.uk/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and it might fit.

yh thats the only annoying bit that it's all one piece, luckily i have a can on my current one, so whatever one i could get i'd cut down if needs be coz i couldn't run a standard can, it would do my nut in.

i'll keep my eyes peeled :)

That's up to you, but a can really doesn't add that much. Measure the diameter of the link pipe and get anything that fits.
