OK, these questions refer to a CBR400RR-N which I am going to race.

1. Do I need to buy a 'magic box' regardless of whether I remove the speedo?

2. I've removed the left hand switch gear including the wiring for the clutch cut off switch and I will do the same with the side stand switch - will the bike start without these wires/switches connected?

The bike is stripped down and engine has no oil or exhaust on, so I'm not going to try and start it at the moment, hence the silly(?) question.

No you won't need the box but you will need to keep the sensor part of the speedo attatched or the bike won't rev you can't just remove the whole of the speedo.

Both the clutch and sudestand switches can be wired out with a loop of wire in the coresponding plugs, a bit of pissing about with a haynes manual and you will work it out.

No you won't need the box but you will need to keep the sensor part of the speedo attatched or the bike won't rev you can't just remove the whole of the speedo.

the de-limiter is a easy plug in th back of the clocks loom that by-passes the limiter and you can remove the clocks completely with no worries of not revving past 5,000 RPM.

I also removed the LH switch gear from my nc29 trackbike. Haven't done anything to the clutch switch... it still starts and rides fine.

By the way, what is theclutch switch for??

Clutch switch allows you to start the bike in gear. It's there to prevent you turning the motor over in gear and damaging your starter.

As this is a track back you don't need a speedo, or a delimiter, or to keep the bloody little circuit in the speedo clock. There is no reason to keep the speedo. If you've got time to look then you aren't feckin riding fast enough.

Take the ORANGE and BLUE wire from the CDI, and wire it directly to the +ve terminal on your battery. Thats what I was advised to do by the shop that started the 400 class in Australia, and how my bike has run on a std CDI since. (3rd year and counting). Then I hacked the speedo off my clocks and threw all that extra weight in the bin.

If you wanna wire it up to be keyless and throw away that pesky ignition barrel (theres a kilo there) I have a few photos and a walk thru for that. Should be up in the 'how to' section when it comes to life.
