VFR400 NC24 RH 1987 MICROFICHE and HELP NEEDED

Post by speedy(delboy) »

Hi, does anyone know where i can download or obtain a microfiche or some form of manual for the above bike, as I know Haynes didnt make one.

I am rebuilding one and just going by what looks right at the mo.

I know I am missing some swing arm spindle spacers but need the code number to try and order some, also need to find out the correct fork seal size (I think its 37-49-8/9.5) but the stanchions themselves are 37mm and I always thought you went down by at least 1mm to prevent the oil coming out the top.

If anyone lives near Barnstaple, in North Devon and can help me out at all, that would be gratefully appreciated.

many Thanks

Phil

Hi Phil

Fork seals? try here http://shop.wemoto.com/index.dyn?oid=25336" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There wasn't a service manual written in English as the NC21/24 wasn't exported, there's some info at the back of the Haynes NC30 manual and there are a few good chaps on here that have other info available, I'm sure they'll poit you at it soon ;)

I have several NC2x parts books (various revisions) and the Japanese service manual. If you need toknow what part numbers you need i'll look them up and take pics of the relevant pages for you. Or any advice in general :)

I am part-way thru scanning the entire manual however my scanners packed up.

wemoto
davidsilverspares
lings honda

all do fork seals for the NC24, i've used the genuine honda ones and ones from wemoto, they both are correct, you don't need to 'downsize' as they have a spring lip that keeps the contact properly. I'd advise against putting air in the forks though.

Cheers Guys some cracking links, especially the ones Spooky put up, many many thanks.

Got the forks done today found them to be 37-49-8/9.5 seals.

The main worry for me is I know some of the Swing Arm spacers are missing where she attaches to the frame, so now going through all those microfiche's from Jons site.

Will keep you informed of how I get on

Many Thanks

Just been through the microfiche's but no swing arm ones, damm, anyone any other suggestions please

Sorry about the delay!

Well, if you want a parts book try Yahoo Auctions in Japan. They do turn up sometimes on ebay uk but they go for as much, if not more than it'll cost you to import one.

how's this :)
