RVF Engine Problem

Been out on my RVF today for it's first proper ride. I wanted to know if it was restricted or not so I took it for a blast up the motorway. When I got to just over the 110 mark it started to not run smoothly. Is this a sign that it is restricted or is it another problem. Through the rev range it pulls cleanly and crisply but at the top of the ref range in 6th it's not so clean.

are you talking about the 180kph(112mph) speed restriction or the 33bhp restriction.i have heard on here that even with the 33bhp restriction fitted speeds of upto 110mph can be reached.

as for the speed restriction it kicks in at 180kph no matter what gear you are in,it works by means of a switch behind the clocks and once the needle reaches the 180kph position it triggers the switch causing the bike to run on only 2 cylinders.this is very noticeable as a bad misfire.

is this what you are experiencing?

Took it for another ride today and I think that may be the problem.

However it was very woolly when you opened the throttle anywhere in the rev range so I think it may be a carburettor problem, not sure what though.
