well chain cleaner - does what it says on the tin but it's pricey for what it is.

Parafin is about £8-10 gallon, you can get it at a hardware shop.

Don't use pertrol

It would be best to replace it. You can try to clean and lube, but I would definately inspect it for kinks or tight spots.

Thanks Evil,

yep chain, spockets were new last year, just want to get the old chain lube off and replace it with fresh stuff,

Oh, didnt know you could get chain cleaner :sshh:

a litre of parafin it is then, thanks again.

spooks, try placing the chain in vinegar, I bought vinegar in vivo at 32p per 500ml

it cleans surface rust off chrome etc, and metal, if soaked in it long enough. cleans up chrome plated bolts etc.

its also nice on chips!!

Thanks again lads, hope this helps!

Vinegar you say, hmmm I was told diesel would remove rust also. I'll try them out before forking out for a new chain. It was brand new but had sat out all year. Not even turned in anger lol.

wd40

most people may disagree and say it actually does more harm than good but thats a load of bollocks ;) been doing it for a long time now and never had any issues....it does a fab job of cleaning the chain, try it.

DONT USE DIESEL

it will distroy the rubber o rings in the chain, and will distroy anything made of rubber
