Re: when i pull off it dies!
i would hazard a guess at the neutral/sidestand switch diode. check the resistance of it....
Ill see can I PM you a quick reference, but can send you the chapter PDF for the electrical system to help diagnose it (4.3MB).
Regards,
J

im pretty sure if it was anything to do with the sidestand cut-out switch it would die immediately.....before you even manage to move at all.the side stand cut out switch works that as soon as you put it into first with the stand down it cut outs straight away.

ok - FAIL on the attachments effort!!
Here's the diode reference for you: http://rapidshare.com/files/220990014/diode.pdf.html" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
I'll upload the chapter file the same way and plug it in the next post in a few....

specifically, does it die when kicking out of neutral, or when in 1st and attempting to accelerate?

Re: when i pull off it dies!
yep,definately sounds like its carb related.is it like a running out of fuel bogging down?
any backfiring at all?does it start again immediatley after cutting out?

no it doesnt backfire and its a nightmare to start after it happens. i dont have a clue about carbs, do you think they need to be balanced or is it something else. thanks for the help(keep it coming!!!)

Re: when i pull off it dies!
Hey wullVFR, wonder would he have blocked power jets? pilot jet is obviously allowing it to start ok, and main jet (correct me if im wrong) will allow it to rev ok in neutral under no load - would a blocked power jet be preventing the fuel throughput under the load of pulling off in first?
Anyway - you cant say enough for cleaning the carbs in the these bikes - they are 17/18 years old after all....
