these are nice when the sun is a bit up and nor straight in your face...or go for the total medium/dark tint .

what you can always do is put a layer of eletrical tape along the top edge of your visor so it acts the same as a sun visor in a car. just a sec while i upload a pic

I swear by Schuberth helmets. Do get the occasional traffic cop jib from people at biker meets for wearing a flip top helmet but it has an integrated sun visor that can be enabled with the flip of a small switch near the chin, it's light. Quiet & i dont' ever have to worry about changing visors, taking my helmet off when i'm warm.

Plus from what I hear Mr Schumacker wears one now too :-)

Might not be the best suggestion for now but next time your helmet shopping try one one.. you'll never go back :D

I quite like the look of the Silver Iridium or dark smoke visor, are these road legal? and what's the visibility like at night?

I went for a Caberg carbon with the built in visor, it's very handy to be able to flick it up if you go into a dark tree covered road etc. They get my vote.

I have a silver helmet with a slight silver tinted visor, great when the sun is out 8-) but when dusk draws in not so good

Nope none apart from a light tint is legal.

I would think any tinted visor is rubish at night and for the 30 seconds it takes to change a visor its not worth not doing when you are out at night

i have 3 lids, roof boxer v now sold , had a black visor on that and is a bastard to change takes about 10 mins to change over , for this reason i sold it on, looked fantastic but only really used it in daytime,
a caberg trip with mirror internal flipdown which is a great feature and is legal as the external visor is clear and bs stamped, (and thats what counts) i tend to use this in the winter months.
and a rossi AGV valencia 2003 ltd edition , have dark tint on that but always carry a clear in a visor bag thing round me waist, the agv has a quick change mech no tools just pops on and off in 2 secs,
cops tend to turn a blind eye to dark visors round here , but if your stopped and you have a clear on you, it shows your a bit more responsible and they tend not to say owt if you swap it out there an then , i think its a silly law as you can wear dark sunglases in your helmet and thats fine untill you go into dark overhanging trees from bright sunlight and then you cant see shit or flip them up to see , id say thats worse than any dark tint visor , but the say nothing about that
