fuel tap

Post by rabutcher »

the fuel tap on my nc30 doesn't shut off, what problems is this likely to cause me.
As it doesn't like starting after being sat for a while

The most serious issue that can happen is that fuel leaks into the cylinders, into the sump and causes lubrication issues. It can also cause a hydraulic lock if it fills the combustion chamber with fuel and you turn the bike over..it will clunk

It is worth fixing it...

I second that.

It happened to me - 1/4 of a tank into the sump.

One of the scarest things thats ever happened in all the time I have worked on the bike. Thankfully (or not) all the fuel ended up in the sump which saved me bending something.

Needless to say. I fixed the fuel tap immediately ;)
