carb set-up issue

Hiya,

Just after a little bit of advise, got my race bike built up, running on ram air with programable, MHP system,HRC carb kit(V/stacks,springs,emulsion tubes, needles). On the dyno the bike is running like a peach, real good torque curve. Problem is when riding the issue of going from 'off throttle' to slow 'on throttle roll on' the bike is stuttering like mad. doesn't really do it over 400rpm, just when your coming out of tight bends.

After changing everthing back to original setting, then back again to the setting given above I think I've nailed it down to the pilot mixture screws needing setting up. just could do with knowing which position to set at. I've just tried 2.5 turn out but it hasn't really done anything different. should I go clockwise or anti clockwise.

I'm at Oulton tommoz, I'm getting a bit sick of stripping down the carbs for the eighth time in the last 24 hours... :Bmods:

'30 or '35 carbs??

Did you fit the ramair yourself and were the carbs modified to suit (fuel bowls plumbed, etc)?

NC35's,

All of the relevant hoses have been diverted into the airbox to allow the ram air to work. the problem does go away(even when running ram air) when the HRC bits have been taken out of the carbs(just with jetting to suit).

The bike does go a lot better with the HRC set-up,but when install it back into the carbs this jerky stuttering problem just starts again when you start getting on the throttle.

I reckon the hrc emulsion tubes might be contributing to your problems. Try running the standard tubes with the rest of the hrc kit.

Pilot screw setting shouldn't affect the running too much. Turn the screws out to richen, in to lean things up. They only really affect performance off idle.

The other thing you could play around with is the size of the pilot jet, although you could only go richer if you're running 35's.

EMULSION TUBES eh.....you may be onto something, I better go outside and strip the carbs.
