Hi guys i have pulled the carb off of my old nc24, and would really appreciate an exploded diagram of the NC24 carb or a guide into stripping and cleaning it. I have done a search and found nothing yet that helps.

Thanks in advance

Steve

To be honest unless you have major problems you don't need the above drawings...

Theres no real need to split the carbs. Just remove the float bowls off each one (3 x screws in each) and you have access to pretty much everything that needs cleaning, blow compressed air through all of the passageways after removing the jets and soaking them and the carb in carb cleaner.

While you've got the carbs off I open the top covers (4 x screws) on each and check the diagphrams are of and clean that up too.

Once again thanks alot for your help. i just like to see how things all fit together as i have had the float bowls off and cleaned all the sludge out of the bottom of the bowls. Im working my way through to fitting my new collector pipe as mine is shot although all the engine mounting bolts on the frame have been slightly rounded by some ham fisted muppet before me. im trying to get the engine mounting bolts out so i can remove the engine and short of grinding the heads off im not quite sure what to do. Any ideas?

Thanks

Steve

I had the same with the two front engine mounts, I ended up drilling the heads off and moving the frame over the studs left in and then getting the mole grips out!

Glad I could be of some help.

Either cut a big slot in them and use a flat head to get them out or just cut them off / drill them out and then get new bolts (prob better in the long run)

The one thing i would say if your striping the carbs (iv learnt from a mistake with mine!) either have a very close look at how the linkages go before hand or take a picture, i put two of the arms the wrong side on the choke linkage and wonder why i couldnt get it start, finally realised i was only moving one choke unit far enough!!!

Dont know if this helps, but i had big problems getting the carbs back on the first time round, so the second time i used a little washing up liquid on the carb mouths and a bit on the rubbers (best to do them off the engine) and they pressed in a treat second time round.

Did you get bubbles out of the exhaust? :D

I use a smear of multi-purpose grease too, as the woman that mot'd the bike on Sat said.. 'them carbs are a f'ing nightmare :D'

Haha
