i was looking throw the parts manual today on akhara and noticed part numbers and a diagram of this "speed warning light".

has anyone ever seen these and how does it wire in ?

surely it would plug into the loom somewhere and i have never seen a spare plug or extra wires etc on the loom or around the clocks !!?!?!?

Rick, have you seen these or do you know are they available through honda ?

http://www.akhara.com/nc30/nc30parts/files/20.htm" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

did a bit of a search through DSS and 1 bit is available and the other aren't...

look on the wiring diagram in the haynes manual, its show it and i also found the bloke connector it goes into today i recon its a light that comes on when the speed restriction is in effect but you couldnt really test this cos ud need to be doing 112 while ur messing with the multimeter :o :scare:

or try it on a dyno if uv got money to burn

I think my mate has one on his NC23, it was mounted on top of the tacho and said speed on it. I noticed it the other day and wondered what it did?

Next time I see him I'll try and remember to have a look at how it's wired, or failing that take it for a damn good thrash and see if it comes on :twisted:

Might have to wait until the brakes are working first though :roll:

I took an NC23 out and it shit me up at 50 odd mph when this red light came on the dash! Thought the oil pressure was goosed...but it is just the nanny state telling you that you are going too fast..

Why would you want something like that?! When I lived in Japan I had a few cars that had the light and a bell that came on when you went over 80ish. Talk about annoying. If I want to be told to slow down, I will take my wife for a ride!

Yes I have one on the NC24 too.. the law had changed by the time the Nc30 went into production so it wasn't needed.

It comes on at aroud 52.5mph IIRC which was the maxium permitted speed (85km/h) of a bike in Japan. It was law to tell you that you were breaking the law :-)

Doesn't limit the bike or do anything else though.

Most cars had them too, along with an annoying buzzing / bell / ticking, (albeit at a higher speed)

you can see the NC24 speed light clearly there, it glows red when the legal speed is exceeded.
