had my 3tj 600 out today for 1st time this year,wow im still buzzing forgot what an animal it was,swapped gearing since last year and its evem more mad i love ,my m8 with zx9r went on it and came back with biggest smile u ever seen he couldnt believe something so small and a 600 could be so quick n agile .just wants to wheelie it first 3 gears.and pulls like a train.to say he was inpressed is understatment ,he helped build it ,but first time he been on it.3tj 600 the monster yamaha should have built.praise the hybred beast.cant wait to do track day and spank some big bikes .cheers daz

I did 130 miles on my 4/6 today and it's the first time with some decent weather and relatively muck-free roads. It really is quick and nimble. It's not mega scary fast in a straight line like my FZR1000 but I'm not really into fast in a straight line these days and the corner speed it holds even with the patchy grip out there today more than makes up for the 20mph top end that it lacks compared to the 1000. Its so much easier to flick about than my old bus (the 1000), which needs hauling all over the place in the twisties (well, it is 50 kg heavier).

At 8000rpm, the 4/6 gets into its powerband and really does leave the traffic standing still. And that brings me to why I did the conversion in the first place... as a 400 with chassis mods it was a great handling bike and enough to keep up with my mates on a clear run and a twisty road but lacked enough grunt for overtaking in the relatively heavy Sunday afternoon traffic, so it spoilt what would be a great bike. Well now it does that too, so it is a great bike and I think I have no need for the 1000 any more (althoguh I'll MOT it and ride them back to back before I sell it, just to be sure).

It is filthy though as there was quite a lot of muck on the roads before it dried up later.

Sounds fun. Yes on the 400 you do have to plan the overtakes a bit.

Bimota did a 4JH based bike which would be about the same level as the TJ hybrid, but it would have posher suspension brakes and slightly lighter wheels

I've pretty much got the posh suspension & brakes.

I filled it up as well and it was doing 45 mpg too, which I thought was alright.

They used Brembo fully floating iron discs and goldline calipers, they look like 30mm discs too but couldn't be sure. The forks were Paollli (?) and an Ohlins shock ... but I see it has the heavy Antera (Anchor) wheels
