Raising NC30 needles

Does raising the needles using extra 0.5mm shims eliminate the "fluffy throttle" feeling?
My throttle has a very pronounced response lag in the low to to mid-range that I'd love to get rid of. The carbs are sorted in every other way i.e. clean, jetting, balanced, float heights etc.
Any thoughts appreciated.

It has worked for me in the past.
A good half exhaust system also gives more midrange power, I only noticed thei when I put a standard system back on, the bike was a bit breathless.

M3 washers are around 0.55mm thick, I've used those. PM me if you want some. I'll post some out.

Thanks lads,
I've already got a half Ethos system on it so I'll go the washer route and see.
Thanks mavisravis, but I've got some 0.5mm shims already.

When you have the carbs off to put the washers in make sure the pilot screws are all adjusted properly also, 2.25 turns out for a half system is the go.
