H4 Headlights on a 3TJ

I spotted a pair on e-bay a couple of weeks ago and did the buy-in-now. they turned up today and look ok - the glass has some scratches but that was in the add.
So this will mean fitting some relays so I don't fry the wiring but apart from that it's probably a staight swap. I'll get some pictures sorted so you guys can see the differences and probably just convert the originals to take the H4 bulbs.

Evil, these don't take the H4 bulb, they take 2 incredibly expensive (£15 each) bulbs.
What creed said is thay this is the upgrade for the type of light that has the single H4 bulb. I hope you've not got your wires crossed.
Personally, I've changed my projector for on of the "standard" H4 bulb taking type with an integrated pilot bulb because I blew 2 bulbs one day (£30 is a bit expensive for one electrical fault or whatever caused it) and my hybrid wiring has the pilot bulb supply and switch.

It looks like it takes an H4 to me ... but I'll see for certain tonight.

Hmmm ... I've asked which bulbs it takes.
H4 are to big so we'll see if it's just a common or garden unit

These are the ones... the price has gone up!

"12v Halogen headlamp bulb to fit and replace the original one found in Yamaha's EXUP models, the output and size being unique to these machines 12v 55/40w."
Ring list this as an import bulb but I've not found anyone that stockes it

Like I said, I've changed my headlight from this one to a standard one because of the bulb cost problem (I've actually got 2 of these projector units on my garage shelf)

I've asked to return the part. There's no point in having this and the ones on the bike ... just for a moment I thought it might be different on a "UK Spec" pair of lights.

Good luck. If Chris won't take it back then these things are quite desirable (there's nothing wrong with them except that the bulbs cost too much), so you should be abalt to re-ebay it.

I asked to have the money I paid back, but obviously not the postage.
he didn't refund so I left neutral feedback

Yes, I know Chris from the FZR1000 & EXUP1000 forums and have bought from him before.

<<< It's UK spec and dips to the left, it was fitted to UK spec fzr 1000 EXUP's in 1992 and 1993. It's not my fault that yamaha charge so much for their model specific headlight bulbs is it ??. I don't offer a refund when a buyer has bought something he doesn't want >>>
That was when I left him neutral feedback. The EXUP 1000 RU doesn't use paralever lights, I thought they'd be H4 (Foolish really) as the ad said "UK spec". After that I didn't feel possative about it, but I couldn't say it was negative either ... so neutral is a fair reflection.
I guess if he were to offer a refund I'd withdraw it but I doubt that's going to happen. Shrug
