Im trying to fit the carbs back on my NC24, iv had a quick look at the haynes manual, and it says the rubbers should have the large cut outs at the bottom and the small ones at the top, iv done this but when i get the front cylinders lined up the rears are about 10mm to high?
Any ideas guys?

Make sure the front carbs are only sitting lightly in the rubbers, then line up the rears (I sometimes use a screwdriver to lever them lightly into the rubbers).
When the carbs are sitting properly use even pressure among all carbs to seat them. I check with a torch to make sure all is good, then do this (bottom pic!):

I've just this second finished putting an NC24 almost back together (rebuilding the front forks after some food) as i've been servicing it. (valve clearnances, oil, filter, colelctorbox et al)
They can be a right bitch ass pain to fit until you've done a few and got the knack.
I put the front cylinders in just a tad like stickshift suggests, then push equally and use a flat screwdriver to prise the back rubbers over the carbs if necessary.
you'll get there with a little persistance.
It might be easier if you fit the rubbers to the carbs, then try and fit them to the engine

Well after lots of messing about iv managed to get three of them in but the fourth is just too far off to get in?
The rubbers on mine seam very hard (little flex in them), should they be like this? You can hardly compress them by hand.

try to warm the rubbers up if you can - I sometimes take flask of boiling water to soak them in before I try to fit my carbs.
If not, new rubbers and it is a cinch..
