Hi guys newbie here. Collected my NC30 this afternoon :D

It is going to be a project, the bike has not been used much recently for quite a while. I put some new fuel in and got her running, after leaving it on the choke for a while it then idled fine on its own, however when you go to rev it, to start with it splutters and sometimes cut out. If you rev then let off and then rev again it seems to overcome this. After 3-4Krpm it seems to rev freely.

Any ideas what could be causing. Its almost like when you hit the throttle it takes a while for the bike to respond if that makes sense? I am possibly thinking carbs need cleaning? Or perhaps a knackered throttle cable?

i am sure the carbs would be thankful for a bit of a clean out using some carb cleaner and a bicycle pump to clean out the pilot jets (these help with the lower idling rev range)

I assume the carbs are best removed totally for a 'proper' clean. Or is this the only way? Not afraid to do so

its the only way. if you go in to halfords and believe the crap some will try and sell you, claiming their product will dislove all deposits, then go ahead!!
but the only REAL way to clean them is to rip them off and go crazy with cleaner and compressed air.
there are a lot of people taking the carbs off on the forum these days so keep on eye on the V4 workshop section for helpful tips
