hi all,
as it says above i was out riding today n i found a massive gap in power in 4th at 8000rpm. i was crusing behide a car n went to overtake, but nothing happened, i had the throttle fully open n it just woudnt pull at all

? i dropped a cog n it went, then bk into 4th already accellerating n it traveled through but it did slow down.
i've only had the bike 2 months n with the weather not had much chance to throw it round, if this is me being a biff then let me know.
any ideas

?
cheers gaz

hello-
have you been riding the bike much in the 2 mnths?and this is definately the first time it has happened?
what exhaust system is on the bike?
to me it sounds like the bike is bogging down almost like running out of fuel or even the opposite.....to much fuel.
i would go out for a run and if it happens again remove the plugs and see what condition they are in.....see if there is any clear signs of the bike running rich or lean.also check for a good spark,im guessing the spark is good as it only happens at 8000rpm in a high gear.
the carbs could be needing cleaned or possibly the jets are the wrong size,if this was the case then i would have expected it to have happened before.
also when you are on the bike and it happens again, put the choke on and see if it makes it worse or clears the problem.
if it clears the problem, then the bike is running lean and if it makes it worse....it's running too rich!!!

hi, thanks for the info
i havent been riding it much on the open road just back n forth to work, so it cud have been happening before.
GF was round at mine thismornin sorting me out with a fork EX, so i probed his mind for some gud gen n his first comment was the same as wot you said, the exhaust! its got no internals so it creating a pressure which will be making it run badly, wether thats the cause i cant be sure but its certainly not helping and the only way to find out is to change it, so looks like my wallet might be getting a bit lighter

.
the other thing i found out was that it might have been because i was snapping the throttle open, apparently they like to be wound on progressively or they flood, so i need to try n be more gentle with the throttle.
and with the exhaust obiviously the jets r wrong. i'll see how its goes next time i go out
