bogging down
hi there guys, just bought a gsxr 400 gk76a for my first bike, now my problem being is that when i start it it starts and idles fine, when i blip the throttle it doesnt die but just struggles to rev up? ive been told to do the o rings and am currently trying to get hold of these and the float bowl gaskets, will this solve my problem or should i be looking deeper?
also im after the front fairing bracket, the frame work type thing? if anyone has one spare they would like to sell that would be very handy

no pics yet but i will do when i get 5, it starts fine and sits on tick over, when revved it doesnt die just struggles to pull through the revs

Hi, I had the same problem on my gixxer 600 after fitting a carb kit. It had a real bad flat spot over about 4/5000 revs where it was bogging down badly.
One of the parts in the carbs called the valve piston was cracked, so the needle was loose, messing up the fuelling. At these revs it was badly over fuelling and bogging down as it drowned the engine.
There's a really good site called Alpha sports, which has breakdown diagrams of all parts. The 400 isn't listed, but other models of the same year are which might be helpful. (I've heard Bandit 400's have a lot of similar parts) They're in America, but will ship to the UK and have parts I couldn't source in England.

it definately sounds like the bike is flooding itself when you try to open the throttle........
do you get any backfiring at all or any signs of black smoke coming from the exhaust?
there could be many reasons for this,you may need to remove the carbs and visually check them....pay extra attention to the floats and set the height correctly....i would maybe suspect this as the culprit!!!!

ive taken the carbs apart they were very grubby, but everything seems to be in order although i cant see were to replace the o rings, and how do i check float levels?
