NC30 forks- old vs new

can anyone tell me if there is any difference in performance/reliability ect (apart of course from the fact that the newer ones have preload adjusters)
am trying to decide wether to overhaul my old forks or get a set of newer ones and use those...

I think that you won't be able to notice the difference matey.

They have both got preload adjusters...one has got a rebound adjuster too.

The main difference is the type of damping they use so unless you can get your head around the two styles of damping then I am sure you won't be able eally notice any difference.

There are no reliability issues with either fork as far as I am aware and so I would use what you have and if you want to change something on it make sure you know what you want to change,how it is changed and what you expect to feel; out of the end of the changes.

the two systems are damping rod and cartridge - go read up on them and see if you are bothered about swapping from one to the other.

Or throw in cartridge emulators, gives all the advantages of cartidge forks other than having external adjustment for a lot less $.

i thought the early vfr k model forks were not adjustable at all and the later forks are adjustable for spring pre-load and damping.

the early forks like cmsmj1 says have a conventional damper system where as the later forks used a cartridge damper.

I had a set of older forks and they worked fine. A pro might tell me otherwise, but I doubt I could ever notice the difference if they were set up well.

Get some decent springs in there and an oil change and you'll probably be pretty happy with the result.

I have a set of the later NC30 forks from a 93 bike that i'll be putting on eBay soon if you decide to change the forks let me know.

But tbh, unless your riding to the extreme / thinking about improving track times and would like the extra tweaking etc the earlier forks feel fine
