Confusion from Haynes manual, probably me being stupid

If you turn to section 4.7 in your Haynes manual and look at the picture bottom left, the picture of the pilot screw, it appears that it has been removed from the big hole above the throttle return spring. Aren't the pilot screws on the inside of the carbs?

i think you are thinking of the pilot jet which is pictures above?............

The picture above is the arrowed as the pilot jet, but the pilot screw (as it is labelled in the book) doesn't appear to be coming from the correct place. Either I'm missing something or the picture is wrong.

i thought you were confusing the pilot screw with pilot jet...........
what makes you think this is not the correct place for it?

pilot screw is just off the bottom of the carbs - where they pop onto the cyl head - imagine why you need a 90deg bend screwdriver to get at them once the carbs are on
