NC23(k) no low beam

Hi all,

Recently fixed an issue with the starter relay, now 2020 is dealing me another blow :x

After doing 180km, parked bike up whilst I was at an event. About 12 hours later when I go to leave, low beam flickers and dies whilst engine warms up.

I have high beam via both the toggle and flash switch. Indicators and tail lights working ok. Also, only the r/h side light would illuminate.

Back in the garage, I've cleaned and re-seated all of the block connectors around the headlight assy. Fuses are all ok.

Split the l/h switch gear, no dodgy corrosion etc, but blasted it out with contact cleaner to no avail.

Only difference after all of this is now the remaining front sidelight has gone.

So, I still have hi beam only, even with new bulbs. Can this be blamed on a faulty relay? If so, is it safe/possible to quickly bridge the male pins to bypass and test?

Thanks

Was the original bulb a 35/55w. If not it could very well be the low beam relay that's at fault

Not familiar with the model of bike a little detail would help. Has two headlights each with 35/55W bulbs. Both low beams and side lights (included with indicators) have stopped functioning?

Wonder if the wiring is at fault. Had the same kind of problem with various older bikes, like at the handlebar switch. Try tracing with a multimeter if you can.

Didn't have chance to go to the garage and check the original bulb wattage, but I've ordered a relay as it was cheap enough. Let's see what happens next.

The low beam is operated directly by the dip switch and not the relay so it probably an issue with the dip switch (on the LH clip-on) or the wiring (white wires) from the switch to the bulbs. It is unlikely to be the relay or the light switch on the right as the high beam wouldn't work either.

If you send me a PM with your email address, I can send you just the wiring diagram for just the lights which may be easier to understand than the looking at the whole system. Also I will doing some YouTube videos on wiring in the next week or so

recently swapped the left switchgear to a slightly less oxidized one, noticed afterward the lights weren't working, but the brake light worked as expected... worth checking for contact oxidization etc.

I'd hope he's got it sorted by now, 10 months later :)
