RVF400 paddock stand question

Post by dorkshoei »

Hi.

I see that the ABBA stand is highly regarded here. I'm in the USA and alas it's stupid expensive ($230) from their US distributor.

Normally I'd just have it shipped to my mums house in the UK and bring it back on the plane (assuming it's within the limits for checked baggage) as even with the 20% VAT it's only $143 (£109.90) shipped to a UK address -- but I won't be back in the UK again until late September.

Given this I'm curious if anyone has made a copy of the ABBA stand for their only personal use and has any measurements they'd be willing to share. I have a lathe, mill and TIG welder and it's design looks fairly simple.

As an aside, here in the US Pitbull makes a stand (https://www.pit-bull.com/hybrid-one-arm ... -f0099-700). I know that Demon Tweaks also makes a budget stand (https://www.demon-tweeks.com/us/warrior ... and-319613). Are the pin designs on these similar? I ask as I know people have had the bike fall off the Demon Tweaks stand. I noticed that RRP sells something that looks very similar to the Demon Tweaks (https://rrp.direct/shop/tools/rear-padd ... rc30-pdsnc) but with a locking pin. I'm not sure this is effective at holding the bike more securely?

Thanks for any advice/help.

Tony

I guess I should learn to Google, as there are lots of threads where people have made their own w/ dimensions. Doesn't look too hard.

This is probably the most detailed info: http://www.exup1000.co.uk/workshop/stigsstand.htm
