anyone fitted an nc30 swing arm to nc29?
just thinking of a project build for the winter, have a few nc29 bits lying around and am wandering if its possible to fit a 30 single sided swing arm with out any problems,
would the 29/30 spindle fit through the frame and swingarm (29 frame), was thinking just banging it in and making up some spacers?

the cbr frame is wider isnt it due to the engine being IL4 so wouldnt that cause an issue with the bolt that holds the swingarm to the frame not bein long enough

For a start the shocks and linkages are quite different, not sure they'd even be compatible. It'd potentially take quite a bit of fiddling about to get that to work.
The NC30 arm would be narrower I guess, so you could use the NC29 pivot bolt and space the narrower arm onto it, so that wouldn't be your problem.
Then you have to line up the whole thing to get the wheel in the middle, and then space the sprocket until that lined up.
I can't see why it wouldn't work in an "everything fits eventually" kind of way, but I'm not sure why you would, as the NC29 arm is already very pretty. And it's probably a lot lighter and must be a lot stiffer than the NC30 part. And then you're either left with an 18" wheel which may cause problems, or the task of sourcing and paying for a 17" rear wheel.
I wouldn't do it, and I put an NC29 arm on my old NC27, so it's not because I'm afraid of tinkering!

hehe morti! well it was just of something to do really, just cause i had some parts laying around, was gonna knock up a cheap and cheerful fighter as a hack. thought the single side suited the cause better i thought, but like you say needs so fabrication most probably, might have to wait a little bit till i get my welder so i can muck around properly.

I think you will have problems with the shock as the NC30 is offset slightly the 29 isnt.

It has been done - I've seen a 29 wearing a 30 swinger
But then again you can do pretty much anything if you throw enough Time, money and skill at it.
