NC30 spending almost over
After 4 months, 2 crashes and alot of saving i think i have finally got everything i wanted (within reason).
A list of everything done since i brought the damm thing 4 months ago
Steering head bearings (60)
MOT (30)
Oil and filter (30)
DB Screen (50)
F tyre (100)
Chain + sprockets (120)
F brake lever (20)
Clutch mount (20)
CBR600 calipers inc. fitting and brakets (200)
Braided hoses (60)
Air filter (20)
Spark plugs (60) I was in a hurry)
Cheap chinese fairings (250)
Top fairing (130)
K-conversions fairing and tank (900)
Exhaust head manifold (50)
Scorpion c/f silencer (250)
Track rearsets (100)
Alarm (20)
Mirrors (20)
Re MOT (30)
New powder coated yoke (30)
Powder coated side stand (15)
All this works out to only £2450, luckly my insurance claim went through so i only paid £900.
And now all i need is
Wheels powder coated (80)
Carbs overhauled (150)
ignition switch (35)
Hopefully with a bit of christmas overtime at work i'll have these done by the end of january.
People have said to me that spending all this money on a 400 is stupid and i should of got a 600 but when it comes to something you love money is no object. Plus i dont need a 600, my lil nc30 is rapid enough as it is, i think 0-60 in 4 secs is good enough but of course someday i will get something bigger eirther a gsxr1000 or ducati 999.
What do you think, may i have gone a bit mad?
Will get some pictures up when i have the k-conversions fairing fitted.

Re: NC30 spending almost over
If including consumables (fluids, filters, c+s etc) I daren't think of what I've spent. Recently a full system, RVF back wheel and radiators, then suspension, light HRC replica RVF carbs, wavey discs, Brembo's and brackets, c/f in a lot of places etc etc. It would scare me to count it up.

Re: NC30 spending almost over
what are the chinese fairings like?
im in the same boat,in a period of just over 8 months i had spent just over 2k..........
and sadly,it continues.the most expensive thing i purchased was a rick oliver lower radiator and the latest spree was a double bubble screen, mini indicators and mirrors which cost in total £85 there abouts.
sadly the bike blew over only 4 days after fitting all of the stuff so i had to buy another d/b screen, mirrors and this time a fairing stay/brace....the indicators were alright.that was another £80....unlucky or what.
i think if you include consumables like viper says the tally will always be quite high.
for example, mot £30!!!!!,i had my mot the other week which was £28 and she failed....after getting what i needed and sorting it myself it all came to £77 and thats even with getting her back in before the 10 working days so i didn't have to pay any more money for the re-test.......and then i had to buy a plastic cover that sits in front of the carbs £10 and also cylinder number 2 is not firing........never ending story and probably even more money!!!
i think with consumables and mot,tax etc i would be over the 3k mark...........its an expensive hobby owning one of these but definately worth it.......

its not what we all have spent that is the scary factor, its what the love of these wee bikes means to what endless amount of money you are gonna spend in the future, lol

Re: NC30 spending almost over
My build was priced at £2740 of extra parts NOT including the purchase of the bike and all the parts it already had. That being my wish list of brand new very trick and shiney bits. But I just want to ride it now. I went into my Honda dealer tday going through the parts manual buying all the individual nuts and bolts, washers and stupid shite like that.
I think by jan/feb its being ridden and by next year is re-stripped again, new bodywork and more new parts again. Assuming Im not bored of it or crashed it horrendously.

Re: NC30 spending almost over
Well i have been in 2 crashes, 1st one the r/h indicator had been ripped off and bad scratches all along the r/h side so i thought for £250 for a set how bad can they be, the anwser pretty good but they dont put up much of a fight
2nd crash was on a roundabout, some bastard pulled out, bike went one way, i went the other, smashed the l/h side to pieces and damaged my tank.
It had a west theme on it and i loved it so i had a choice of finding undamged fairings and tank and painting the lot to make it the same. But unfortuatly the stickers to be made would cost £200, and then to get the paint right and have the stickers laqured would of cost in the region of £500, so went to k-conversions where they have done the paint job and supplied tank and fairings coming to a grand total of £900.

Re: NC30 spending almost over
I've spent a fair bit on my race bike but haven't been ridiculuous, mostly because the rules don't allow excessive spending (no mag wheels, etc). I guess you can spend a bit within the rules if you were inclined.
On my road nc30, every expense has been spared! I scored it cheaply and am making it look decent on a tight budget, only for the reason that it will just be a commuter. It could turn out to be a bit of a beast though, will put some pics up soonish.

Holy sh!t
You boys are scaring the bejesus out of me.
I bought the bike for $1500Aus, and spent a total of $150 on parts to get it registerable.
Admitedly that includes anout 15 hours of labour, but god was it worth it.
The thing pulls so incredibaly hard, Really impressed with the wee little thing. Love it to bits.
It's got a micron can off an R6 and Tiga rearsets (both off last owner).
To finish tarting it up i'll be buying one of these Hong kong fairing kits and i'll be mostly done.
I know you can out brakes from the cbr600 on them but don't know why you would, HH pads with 5.1 fluid and stock discs, the thing lifts it's arse on demand, stops on a dime, and despite my best efforts, won't fade.
As you can see, i really love this bike.
Registering it tomorrow.
Wish me luck boys.

Re: NC30 spending almost over
I'm scared on how much my NC30's cost me. My sanity isn't something I can value in pounds sterling. It's gone through around 8 exhaust combinations during the time I've had it and even though each has been sold on, I've lost a bit of money there. Ditto items like shocks, forks, discs, wheels, fairings, etc.
