Hi all, daft question, but should I use engine flush on my NC35?

Doing the bikes first oil change after being laid up for a long long time! Current oil looks ok but is well beyond its shelf life.

Just put a cheap oil through it for a couple km then flush and fill with good stuff. Apparently engine flush can do more harm then good..

I actually have some new old (out of date) oil - motul 10w40 which I can run through it. Can't imagine that 10 mins will cause any issues. The new oil going in is LiquiMoly 10w40.

So I emptied the old oil into a container and then dragged a very strong magnet through the old oil. Here's the photo. There are some microscopic dots of metal on it and 2 ultra fine strands, thinner than human hairs.

To be expected on a bike this old that's been stood for 10 years??Image

Yeah, that looks alright. If your concerned cut open your filter and check the paper. When i first got my bike it was grinding gears - 1st oil change had bits of black steel in the oil. Have run it ever since and hasn't skipped a beat
