It lives...
I've just spent the last few days rebuilding my carbs and got the bike running about 5 mins ago, so feeling quite happy right now :-)
There are a few issues though...
The carbs will need balancing and the clearances setting up properly as it's been a long time since a service. Everything is on the stock settings at the moment with the pilot screw set to 1 and 5/8th's out, but I'd like to add an extra 0.5mm washer under each needle, drill the slides to 2.5mm and up the main jets to 110/112.
When I fired it up a moment ago I used a separate container for fuel supply but had the airbox and filter fixed in place. I only fiddled with it for a minute or so as its 2230 here and the neighbours wouldn't appreciate the noise. Once set to idle the revs were pulsing, a second fast a second slower.....
Would anyone might know what might be causing this...?!
Cheers,
Dave

A particularly bad balance can cause this (it did in mine). Also are you sure about 1 & 5/8 ? If your standard then 2 turns should be fine....

Re: It lives...
Hi st. The bike seems to have settled a bit after running some more this morning. Also noticed I hadn't got the choke bar fitted quite right on the rear two carbs.
The exhaust off the front two cyclinders is popping every so often...
With the pilot screw, I'm just going from the Haynes manual... I'll have the carbs off later so can try 2 turns and see what difference it makes.
The balancing has been a visual attempt so far. I've not dug this deep into the bike before, so learning a few new things and looking forward to getting it running smoothly.
Just about to order some new main jets. Whilst the stock ones are 108 all round, I was going to go for 110f and 112r rather than the same on each carb. I've read posts where people have done all the same sizes and mixed sizes... What do you think?

Well this is the info I have found after searching this forum and various manuals. Others please advise me if I am WAY off. This would be a rough starting place if you don't have a clue for a NC30

Re: It lives...
Yup looks like I'm totally the wrong track. I had assumed a NC30 but in fairness you didn't mention the bike. Info is for the NC30 sorry.
