Nc30 RPM problem
Hi all I've developed a problem with my nc30 she ran great to work this morning but just now on my journey home I started her up all good but I then noticed the RPM clock in the range of 14-16000 and when on idle she's 5000rpm if I try to adjust the idle screw she starts to cut out the bike is running normal is not the sound of high rpm can anybody help me fix this one thanks
I just had a look with the tank off I fiddled around with plugs and looking if I could her leaks or anything which I haven't a clue to look for lol and then filled her up with super unleaded and tried her and she's the same no missing just a fast idle 5rpm and in six gear doing 59 mph shows 14000-1500 rpm ?? So just looking for advice on what to check over

Re: Nc30 RPM problem
I had the same issue.
I traced the wires from behind the rev counter and cleaned the connection. I also gave the battery a good charge. Oh and replaced the reg/rec as mine was faulty.
Search YouTube for how to test the reg/rec.
Good luck hope you fix it.

Re: Nc30 RPM problem
Thanks Turk will it do harm ridding it like this at moment like I said the engine is not screening as if it was on 16000 rpm but I'll try what you said she was in the sun all day if this has something to do with it but she started normal on the choke and then this happened I've had the tank off and looked at the cable on the carb open and close when the choke is pulled up and I can see the four carbs open up and close ok I'll check what you said next thanks

Re: Nc30 RPM problem
Tried bike out today still got issue not sure if the heat will cause anything ? But bike is runing ok just rev counter at its limit and drops off on idle to 50000 rpm engine not on 16000 otherwise it would be screaming I presume and engine temp gauge in between 70-90 I'll try over the weekend to trace wires into rev clock but with checking battery ect Ive no experience on this I would have to try local bike shops if anybody can help local i can travel as bike is runing South Wales area but for now I'll check out what I can do I appreciate people's advice all helps me fingers. Re: Nc30 RPM problem
I have just sorted the same problem, the rev-counter reading approx 3 times actual engine speed! I took the screen off for easy access to the instruments. Cleaned the connector blocks, although they looked OK. There is a single earth connection on the back of the rev-counter housing held on by a nut, didn't look too bad but cleaned it anyway. Reassembled, started the bike and all is well now. I have heard/read somewhere that this earth connection can cause problems with the rev-counter.
