Serious question

Post by Boggieman »

Hi all,
I have recently bought an nc23 that I plan to take parading with the CRMC.
What I would like to know is if the swing arm can be drilled and tapped to accept paddock stand bobbins? Or is this considered very bad practice?
All answers gratefully received.
Thanks
Ian

People drill the swingarm to use a sharkfin to stop their limbs getting caught between the chain and rear sprocket. Don't know if the swingarm would be strong enough for use with a paddock stand though.
How about getting a steel/aluminium bar and tapping a thread down the centre then getting that welded onto the bottom of the swingarm.
Just a thought

Thanks for that.
I have notice that the rear wheel spindle is hollow, so I might just poke a rod through that and use it as the lifting bar.

I just use this type of stand with my NC23 http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/REAR-Paddock- ... xyiOxR3TMN
No need for bobbins - you might need to fit some washers between the R clip and outside of the stand frame to bring the cups out to the right width.

Isn't the NC23 too modern for the CRMC :P and water cooled too :o (I used to marshal for them so only joking!)

Hi ...pod70
You are right the nc23 is too new to race with the club, but I will only be parading so the eligibility officer is a bit more relaxed about it. The coolant issue is overcome as long as it is just water in the system.

Will look at those stands instead I think, good call.

Cheers

...pod70.
Hi Andrew
Nice to meet you at CP at the weekend. Had some great rides, unfortunately you had gone by then, the 400/4 went really well.
Thanks for all the advice re: getting my NC23 ready for next year.
Hope to see you again.

Good to meet you too. Typically the weather seemed to rapidly clear once I had left.

We're all back at Cadwell on 24th & 25th June with the Classic Bikes Trackdays crew - there might be a place in the middleweights (sunday only) if you fancy joining us
