I left my bike to the workshop yesterday for a control (carbs set up, change oil, some minor stuf), and asked them to have a look at my rear brake that does not work at all. I used the bike only on track for the last 4 years, so I realized only last week the rear brake did not work.
They told me it's completely seized.
so, I can either take it apart, change everything and rebuild it, or find a second hand rear brake caliper.
so, here is my question.
Are there any other bike that have the same rear brake caliper as the 400 fzr?

I looked around but didn't find anything. Some of the brembo units looked to have similar mounts but the fluid bleed on the top.

Stripping one of these calipers isn't too hard... just get a steel plate down the middle and push both pistons almost out (the first one is held back by the steel plate).

Then take the plate out and pop one of the piston. If you split the caliper, you can either use the pliers right on the edge of the piston or use an air line and block the crossover channel or banjo connection.

Usually just removing the seals and cleaning out the corrosion that builds up behind them is enough to get them working.

Use red rubber grease during reassembly.

nothing:)
at first, I thought there was something keeping it from moving. I can step on it with my whole weight, it won't brake or move :)

so there is complete firmness,it must be seized real bad!!!!

ive had seized pistons before but never as bad as that!!!!usually hydraulic pressure is enough to move seized pistons and the problem lies with the fact the piston stays stuck on......
if you are going to try overhauling them then good luck with removing the piston

is it possible the lever is just seized solid?try removing the bit that connects the lever to the master cylinder and push on this with your hand.........

If you've taken it to a garage and they can't free it then you need another caliper. I thought that FZR600 ones would fit but whenmy mate put one on his 3en2 it touched the outside of the disk. He groud away a small bit of the caliper body and it was fine.
This might mean the Thundercat rear will fit onto the TJ carrier and be usable with a bit of modding.
The Brembo unit that looks similar is the one used on the Ducati 916/996/998 ecept they're gold ... but that doesn't mean they'll fit

if the pistons are seized that bad you probably wouldnt be able to get the pistons out!!!!
and for the price of a caliper from ebay it definately beats the hassle of trying to overhaul the caliper

that's why I plan to simply replace the whole thing.

this was my trackday bike, so I never used it on road for the last 4 years, but as I wanted to sell it, I rebuild all the road fairing, light, mirror.................and felt in love with the bike as a road bike :)
so I might need a rear brake now

well, they said they could, but as it's a cool garage, they kindly gave me a call before starting, just to warn me it would cost 250 euro because of the overtime they would have to spend on it.
so I asked them to leave it this way

Might fit - look at them carefully
All I've done is notice the similarity between my Bimota's rear Brembo and the FZR's. They bleed differently, the 400 has two nipples the Bim has one
