Rubber Grommit

I have owned my bike since 2008 i tend to know where every nut, bolt and grommit goes and what it does.

Now today while thumbing through the parts pdf i realised there is a part i have no idea what its there for, despite seeing it numerous times.

That part is the rubber grommit that is attached to the swingarm, near the offside front of it.

Any ideas what the grommit is hiding and what its use is?

It goes on the top edge of the swingarm at the front, it blocks a hole up, probably where it's cast, stops water getting in

Yes, thats it. It does seem odd that its there and I was thinking maybe its access for greasing the swingarm, dont know really. I will check it out further when i get my bike on the Abba stand in a few weeks.

cheers
