NC35 Lower Fork Leg Disassembly

Sometime during the racing season the left hand lower fork leg has taken a hit and has bent one of the arms (not sure if that's the correct term?) that the caliper bolts to. Now when I tighten the 2 bolts to secure the caliper it twists out of alignment with the brake disc, making it rub.

To fix this I want to remove that section of the fork leg to realign it. What I can't work out is whether the fork tube will slide out of the lower section, or if it's something more complicated?

Theres a grub screw that needs loosening off then the tube unscrews although im sure honda never wanted anyone to remove them as there a complete bitch to unscrew. Lots of heat is the order of the day

Heat due to the adhesive / threadlock they used, but the other issue is how to safely grab the stanchion to unscrew it without damaging it. I've seen them clamped into big lathes. If there are holes in the tube you might be able to stick something in there to hold it. Bending the alloy lower tab the other way might not work anyway, tube in or out...

Ooh bugger, that doesn't sound like an easy job. Might need to have a word with my suspension guy.

Usually two holes at the far end of the tube to assist in unscrewing. As DM said, total c*** of a job.
