Hey guys/gals, can someone tell me which bearings are best? (refer photo).
My yoke has tapered roller bearings on it but the new 'Top quality Jap bearings' have arrived and are your standard 'roller' type bearings.
I now have to decide if I buy races to match up with already fitted tapered bearings or remove those and use the new ones I purchased??

Why are you replacing the bearings? If they're worn out, you must change the races at the same time or you will kill the new bearings very quickly. Bearings come with races, so your only excuse would be laziness!
Ball bearings have a lighter feel and are easier to adjust, but they're more prone to damage. I usually fit tapered bearings. Don't buy unknown-brand bearings.
Ciao,

Ciao,
I always replace the wheel bearings and steering head bearings on my bikes when I 1st purchase them. Nothing worse than notchy bearings!!
I purchased 'high quality' Japanese ball bearings (they came with races of course) but had to replace my steering yoke and my replacement yoke had almost new tapered bearings on it.....hence why I posted this on the forum. IF I was to stick with the tapered bearings I was going to have to purchase new races individually. These tapered bearings are 'All Ballz' brand by the looks of it which have had mixed reviews.............no laziness here at all thanks, just asking for advice.

You can't buy the races separately, though.
