Blasting - Soda/Vapour/Bead etc

Hi,

I need an engine, frame, swingarm, yokes etc all blasting.

Is it only advisable to soda or vapour blast a motor (its complete and sealed)?

Does anyone have any experience of blasting components?

I've got a blasting cabinet in my workshop that's great for small parts. Been going through the NSR doing little bits and bobs and they come up really well. The cabinet uses glass beads which seems to give a very good result.

I'm over there at the weekend so I'll do some before and after shots for you if you like.

I'm not sure of the make but I know it isn't a Clark cabinet. It's really handy for those little things like yokes and brackets and hangers. Now if I could zinc plate as well I'd setup a little sideline in refurbishment of parts.

That's awesome, thanks for the Pics.

Blasting a motor without stripping is a no-go it seems, no matter whether it's vapour or other media.

Think I'll just pull the rockers, casings and sump off and get those blasted and coated instead and just give the block a clean without splitting.

Probably your best bet.

I did have a really good paint code for NC30 engine covers somewhere.

No idea how good, bad, or indifferent this firm may be but they do appear to have pretty comprehensive listings of colours used.
