which stand

ive been looking on ebay for a front stand i need one which i can use to support the frame while i have the forks out any suggestions for a good one to use?

hell i used rope off a good sturdy beam while rear was on a paddock stand.

I use a micron nose lift stand, which fits in under the bottom yoke, various adapters were supplied with it to fit most bikes. My only criticism is that when its lifted the uprights of the stand can foul the removal of the front wheel spindle, its not impossible, just requires a bit of wiggling and shifting about.
Seems solid enough though.

+ 1 on a headstock stand. Much more vertsatile than a fork lift stand.

have a look at the post in workshops in this section under "29 race bike on a shoestring" thats a versatile paddock stand holding the front end up, how easy it is to do with engine in is a different story?
