severe knocking noise and loss of power
I recently bought an nc30 (import) with a slight knocking noise at about 3000 rpm and was told by the previous owner not to ride it until i had it looked at.
easier said than done the six year old boy came out in me and i took her for a spin after about 40 mins the slight knock turned into a horrible clattering noise like there are nuts and bolts rattling around inside, there was a total loss in power and it was cutting out at the end of every street
. i havent got much experience with big bikes mainly 2 strokes so i havent got the foggiest what has happened but i know its pretty bad whatever it is. does this engine sound like a total loss or is there a chance it could be revived pls help somebody please

Re: severe knocking noise and loss of power
Possibly the big ends are gone or a dropped valve, time for a new motor I think.

in any case it sounds fooked, no point sugar coating it.
its hard to think what in the name of jaysus was going through your head thinking it would be fine

You should get a good motor for about £200. Get one from a breakers and ask for a warranty so if it's a dud you'll get your money back.

Re: severe knocking noise and loss of power
why not open it up and inspect the damage, tho if a new engine is 200quid then itd be cheaper to replace!

Re: severe knocking noise and loss of power
It's almost certainly a big end bearing has failed.
If you are in living in the Southeast of England, I have a good replacement with approximately 15,000 miles on I can let you have for £175 delivered to your door.
Thanks
