So my bike has been sat for a few months over winter, in that time i have replaced the o rings in the carbs and refitted them this afternoon, I put fresh fuel in the tank and tried to fire it up with no success, i took the HT leads off to check for a spark but saw nothing.

Anyone had anything similar to this? What could be the problem?
Thanks alot

what 400 is it? 76? You need to put a spare spark plug on the ht lead, it won't jump from the lead onto the engine.

This afternoon i got my tools out again, there is a spark, there is fuel in the carbs, the engine just turns over and over endlessly, not even a hint of it trying to fire up, what should i check first?
Cheers

Blocked pilot jets in the carbs?
Also a very common issue is to have the idle speed set too high (it can get adjusted when you tinker with the carbs). trying turning it down, and starting the bike with the choke only. You want the throttle plates so you can hardly see any light under them, just the cutaway in the slide itself. The bike won't start if the throttles are open.
