Hi folks

New on here and am hoping someone can give advise

Bike starts and ticks over nicely, revs clean up until about 6k-7k then bogs down, to the point of nearly cutting out, I have read as many previous posts as I can find and will try and work through them (I'm not the best mechanic).

I have a quick question though, when I put a piece of pipe on the fuel tap vacuum spigot I can't suck or blow anything through it. Is this correct or is this the first place I should start?

Which pipe are you talking about? The vacuum pipe (horizontal one)? If so, you should be able to apply a vaccum and clamp the hose. Then when you turn on the fuel tap, you should get flow. If not, there is a problem with the diaphragm and should look at rebuilding it.

Thanks, so just to be clear, suck on pipe, clamp hose, try and Rev bike? If still bogging down then fuel tap diaphragm could be knackered

Are you revving it up while sitting still? Have you tried to go to redline (or close to it) while riding?

not ridden it yet, wanted to give it the once over before going out.

if i rev hard it appears to run better, after about 10k rpm, but between 6k and 10k its like there is no fuel.

Take it for a test ride and see if it still does it. Of course make sure everything else is in proper working order before you do. I can't explain why, but both of my bikes are the same way. I think it has something to do with the CV slides.

think I will change plugs and filters as well, cant hurt, in another post there was mention of plugs fouling giving
the same symptoms

You are right, it can't hurt.

How new is this bike to you? I't might also be a good idea to change ALL the fluids...oil, coolant, front and rear brake fluid, and maybe even the fuel. Then you will know for sure that they are all fresh and ready to work for you.

Not a bad idea, only had it 3 days, wanted one with good engine as I can sort other things as I go, but I obviously didn't Rev it enough when I went to view it, only blipped throttle to about 5k and all sounded great, my mistake I guess
