Had the bike for a few years, been trying to get her on the road. Been having troubles with bike misfiring on one (i think) cylinder. Battery is knackered as I've had it on charge for the right amount of time yesterday and got about 10 seconds of trying to start the bike out of it. Took battery out and I just realized this plug....

Don't tell me something needs to be plugged into that...

Nothing really important, just the rectifier/regulator that charges the battery

As first guess it looks like the rect/reg unit plug. In your picture I cannot see a rect/reg unit fitted on the vertical plate immediately to the left of the un-connected plug. No rect/reg, no charging battery although it also sounds like the battery is stuffed.

Who knows, P/N should start with FH if newer FET type and SH if older SCR type. SCR type can be reliable if mounted appropriately, my SCR type has provided >4 years and 30,000km of service. FET type tend not to care how they are mounted, hence their popularity as a replacement.

my 1989 type 2 seed still has the factory rectifier on it.. 40,000km on the clock.

interestingly, not many people know this but you might like to know, The NC30 was subject to a factory recall in around 2001.. the reason was the soudn foam on the inside of the rear cowl by the reg/rec deteroiates and blocks air-flow around teh reg/rec increasing chance of failure.
