Can anyone tell me which year CBR600F thermostat I need to acquire to turn my frigid GK76a into a hot blooded beast??

It appears they made the F from 1987 to 2006.

Thanks,
Al.

I'm not sure what everyone else runs. When i was looking for the CBR part number i came across another option in this forum.

viewtopic.php?f=53&t=31585

It's a 17670-06G50 TL thou one. It definitely fits in the gk76 housing (i have one in mine) and is 88degC instead of the cbr one which it says is an 82?

not sure how it runs with it in yet as it's not done any track days yet.

Martin

It was the thermostat from the CBR600 F3's. Produced from 95-98. I just installed one.

Cheap way of doing it is to buy a secondhand thermostat and housing off ebay and use the thermostat, can be bought for £10/£15.

Damn, I ordered it before you posted. I got one from a wrecker that was out of a 2000 model year bike. The only one I could find at a wrecker in NZ actually, small country syndrome!
Anyways as soon as I took the CBR thermostat out of it's housing I could see 75 degrees stamped on it and and my heart sank. I'm sure some of you who live out in small rural towns more than a hundred miles from the nearest big centre know the feeling. Another week lost...

So it's back to square one, think I will just try and get the right temp thermostat and then worry about fitting issues as I'm an engineer by profession.

What temp thermostat should I be looking for? The one in it now is 76.5 degrees and the needle only moves into the white zone by about 3 or 4mm ie bottom quarter.

I fitted a brand new SV 650 thermostat, into my GK76's stock housing, which opens at 82 deg. C. ( Bought in Sept. 2013. It only cost me £12.00 as they'ed been reduced  ). At the moment it's similar to yours, Kiwibiker. The temp. needle only goes 4-5 mm into the white normal zone when fully warmed up, & that's when the air temp. is high teens/low 20's deg. C. ( A warm Scottish summer's day ... which are rare! ).
Wear in the needle's & needle jets may be causing my bike to run a bit rich tho', so that won't help.
I have new Mikuni O-5 needle jets & OEM needle's to fit so will see how the temp. is after I fit them.
( The needle's were sourced via my local Suzuki dealer & the needle jets from NRP Carb's in Manchester, U.K. ).

If it still runs on the cool side after fitting the new needle's & needle jets I'll buy & fit a TL 1000 thermostat.
( Thanks for that info. MartinSamual. ;) ). Personally, I would like the temp. needle to be halfway into the white NORMAL zone. Am I right in thinking this ?
