A Couple of Brake Questions...

Hi All,
I *finally* got my bike up on a stand yesterday and set about replacing the rear disc, which was worn way beyond minimum (and the pads were down to the metal) but I've managed to round one of the bolts holding the disc on. I'm fine with drilling the offending bolt out, but does anyone know where to get replacements? I guess if I know the part number I could perhaps get them through a Honda dealer.

There's some at the link below, but once you've brought the nuts and bolts, you're looking at £30, which is more than I want to pay for bolting my rear disc onto the bike!

Second question: What's the minimum thickness for the front discs? Mine measured as just shade below 5mm, but don't appear to have a minimum thickness stamped on them anywhere.

Thanks for any help!

Barny

the front disc minimum thickness is 3.8-4.2mm

as for the rear brake disc nut,so long as you know the size of the nut then it should be readily available from most motor factors etc.
try mandp, they usually stock mr fastener nuts and bolts and do tubs of certain sizes at reasonable prices.

With something as important as brake parts I'd go straight to honda rather than risk an aftermarket one that might fall off/break etc. It's just not worth it.

But if you look after the pennies you can spend the pounds on better surgery when that bargain basement bolt fails at high speed
