I have an FZR 1wg

Anyway

the clutch was slipping when I got it so I swapped the fibre plates it didn't make much difference but when it got really hot it seamed to work ok.

I decided to change the steal spacer plates to see if that was the issue but now the thing is really slipping.

Any ideas.

Have you tried the adjuster in the sprocket carrier? It may be that it isn't releasing fully and giving you slippage? Other than that what oil have you got in it and are the springs in the carrier in good condition?

Did you renew the springs ?

I'm looking at the actuator side. I've also got hold of a complete working clutch so I'm swapping that in and that will tell me if it's the clutch or mechanism.

Adjusting the clutch can be tricky make sure you haven't got it to tight. It could also be the lever is to tight slacken it right off before adjusting it at the sprocket cover.
It sounds like the clutch isn't disengaging.

You should measure the whole set of plates as a pack, if they are only a tiny bit under spec it will slip.
Check the actuator isn't full of crap thrown off the chain, there is a lock nut on the end of the actuator you need to loosen it off then undo the rod a bit ( flat blade screwdriver) turn it in gently until it touches the pushrod inside then back it off half a turn, then do up the lock nut without moving the rod.
That should sort it out although these bikes are well known for slipping clutches. Don't use cheap eBay shit clutch plates! I even had trouble with EBC one's! Barnett do good clutch kits but are expensive.

Back off holiday now so I'll be doing this on Friday I'll let you know how I get on!!

Ok found the adjuster and it seams ok now. Fingers crossed.
