Has anyone tried these bulbs in their NC29 and if so do they make a difference?

The seller reckons you dont need any other alterations and are a straight swap, Im unsure of this, as Im sure I read you had to get some sort of gizmo (Ballist?)so does anyone know or is this the wrong sort of bulb Im talking about.

these are a "cheap" Ballast version of HID.... they are run from the bike not a ballast.
you will have to bodge the bulb to fit a jab NC29 headlight unit as Normal H4 bulbs do not fit.
you will also need to do the relay/fuse mod to stop your dip switch melting for any bulbs over 35/55W that are fitted.
so no they arent a straight swap.

years ago when i was testing what bulbs were any good.. i tested these and they didnt last 1 month!!! i now have the proper HID ballast kits fitted to my NC29, they have been on my bike for just under a year now.. with no issues...

Thanks LP, I knew in the back of my mind that something was needed, Im just not an expert on bulbs and i dont have your CD at hand to check out the mod, but will look later.

What would be the cost of the Ballast kit and where do you recommend buying these?

were di you get this kit from mate ? and how hard was it to fit ?

i got mine from a UK ebay seller. i think i paid £90 inc postage.
the kit i got was a:
Bi-Xenon Hi/Lo HID H4 4300K.
you can now get digital kits which claim to have smaller Ballasts. Hi/Lo mean you get a dip and main beam in 1 bulb.
The biggest problem you will have is finding a safe home for the ballasts! mine stick out like a sore thumb on the right hand side of my clocks. i wrapped the excess loom around my headlights. DO NOT CUT THE WIRING between the ballast and headlight connector! there is 60,000Volts running through it! you do not want to create a weak spot in the wiring!
I had my kit fitted by auto electricians so that the warranty stays solid, its also why i modified my headlight units to accept H4 bulbs as i did not want to butcher any more bulbs to make them fit!

Thanks again LP. Looking on ebay there are a few selections but as usual the damn Chinese ones are half the price.. Something to ponder for my next outlay I think.

i have found them to be excellent! cats eyes lit up further than normal, road signs light up early as well. cars get out of your way when you come up behind them on motorways, i have less cars pulling out of junctions even in day time. numerous people have said "we can see you clearly" and for those who blind me at night.. they get a face full back!
