Non sp wheels on a sp

Post by Drunkn Munky »

Is there any actual difference between the sp and non sp wheels on a 3tj? I know sp's have captive spacers but can the captive spacers be fitted to non sp wheels?

I think the wheel casting is exactly the same, it's just the spacers and maybe bearings that are different.

Pretty sure the rear is ok, as it can be fitted up with the SP spacers and bearings.
But the front is different, its been a while, but I think the wheel bearings are smaller
diameter.

Right about the front wheel.
The rear wheel spacer on the disc side of an sp wheel is shorter than the rr rear, this is because the sp caliper carrier is different (slightly wider). I machined a spacer from an rr wheel shorter, 2.5mm I think? Don't know if captive spacers can be fitted. Might be worth a try?
