Needing to pick your brains please,

Are nc30 cams and carriers a matched pair or can they be swapped in and out?

For example if i wanted to put NC35 cams into my NC30 can i just swap the cam or do i need to get the carriers swapped as well?

Or if i wanted to get some grinds done on a set of spare cams i have can i put these into my surrent cam carriers or do i need the carriers for the spare cams and put these in to?

Finally how do i differentiate between inlet and exhaust cams?

Thanks
Kurt

Front and rear cams should have something like fr on one side and in on the other side. As in front right inlet etc

clearanes are given in the service manual, so long as the cam carrier you try fall into the specs given I shouldnt imagine too many problems will arise.

Never tried swapping just the carriers before so no idea how well they are machiend but Hondas manufacturing was pretty tight back then so I dout they'd be much issues swapping between them but dont take it as gospel, always check first if you can before you buy.

The cases are machined as a set but ive heard people swapping them before and the manufacturing has been so good they didnt have trouble.. but with anythign old ymmv.

Yer I've run 35 cams and carriers on a uk 30 engine with no issues at all.
I also ran 35 cams in a 30 engine with the 30 engine carriers. Did the shims and all seemed ok. Only used this engine for around 1000 miles so not a long term test, but I would have thought that any damage would have occurred pretty quick. I did take the cams out of this engine and use them in another with no issues at all so the cams were good.
