3en1 vs 2tk tci ?

I have read a few posts regarding using a tci unit from a 2tk model when wanting to de restrict a 3en1 model. I found a 2tk unit on ebay recently but the fittings look different. They both have two multiplug fittings but the 3en1 seems to have more spade connectors than the 2tk ones? 8+6 vs 6+4!
Will it fit or do i have to alter any of the connections for it work.

Hi, my 3en1 has a 2tk ignition, I used to think all the 3en1's had them as a parts sharing thing from the factory. If I could get access to it I'd take some pics but cant at the mo sorry.
Cheers
Ian

IIRC : Neither Kayla or I could get the 2TK unit to operate the 3EN2.

All accounts seemed to prove the 2TK box was a plug and play for the 3EN1 harness.

Are you 100% sure it is a 2TK box ?

It should have 2TK on the sticker ... that's the biggest clue ;)

I tried a 1WG Genesis box on my 3EN2 after I couldn't get the Ignitech one to work on the 3EN2 either. The bike would spin over but not fire with both the Genesis and Ignitech boxes. I ended up using an M-Max with the standard 3EN2 ignition on my race bike.

I suppose, given time, you could get the Genesis or 2TK box to work on a 3EN1/2 but I ran out of patience with it. It should work, given that the early 1WG engines are interchangeable, but it doesn't :x One thing it might be is the flywheel and/or ignition pick-ups need to be used with the specific ignition.

So many others one here have used the 2TK as a work around for the 3EN1.
Morespeed being the most recent and most informed.

Even if the OP was sold a unit as a 2TK part it is no guarantee that it is an actual 2tk unit....... without confirmation ,all replies are speculative.

For all we know he could have been supplied with a Genesis unit.......

Wait for Cleggy to put a pic. up of the unit or confirm the box label numbers.( he shouldn't be long.... he's only in Gateshead .)

Certainly a pic of a 2TK unit anyhow.

Maybe the extra terminals are the restriction circuits that are not included on the 2TK .
I have not read any posts that stated a terminal swap was required.

The easy test is to fit the box when it is delivered. ( or Morespeed digs his bike out of storage )

Sometimes people try to sell things for a while but just have one picture.
Fit this up and see if it works.
