Hi All,

I saw a picture online some time ago - of a set of NC30 HRC spec carbs with wire mesh domes over the inlets. I quite like the idea of this as i dont fancy getting stones sucked into the engine.

Does anyone know if they are available off the shelf, or will i have to make them?
Or
Can i get a set for another bike and modify to suit?

I am snowed under and dont have the time to go searching online shops to find the right thing so any advice much appreciated

:rocks:

Cheers

Ive seen them too, very cool but no idea where to get them from. One thing I stumbled across a while back though is that nc24 carbs have a mesh built into the airbox, this almost fits nicely over nc30 carbs and looks pretty cool. I'll get a pic of it tomorrow morning if i remember

Cheers mate,
Didn't know the 24 had mesh, may be an option
The ones I saw had no solid side or rim, it was like mesh had been pressed into a or over a mould to form the shape about the size of a large shot glass.
My carbs have separate mounting plates for each inlet so not much to fix too. Worse case I may just make a mesh cutout to fit the underside of the tank down to the air tray. But this option is liable to damage and not so neat.

If you can find yourself one of the old hardware shops,Iron mongers,
Ask them if they have any mesh tea strainers.
Thats what i used years ago.

Yer I thought about using them but I think the mesh may be a little to fine and restrict airflow.
I need to go to the cook shop and check it out.

Yer but all the HRC carbs I have seen don't have any filter at all, so don't want to disturb the airflow in to the carbs.

I dont use a mesh on mine but it does use a airbox so its a little better protected than the 30 hrc setup

Yes but the HRC carbs are intended for mainly WOT track use, hence the setup. If this is what your going for then don't worry about it.

Using them like this on the road isn't advisable as you'll be sucking in roadside pollution.

Yes it will be race only, so i supose i am getting a litle worried over something that i shouldn't.
If i am heading for the gravel, stones and dirt getting into the carbs will probably be the least of my worries
