3TJ Petrol Tank Pivot.
On both of the 3TJs in my garage, the bracket on the front of the petrol tank cannot get past the mirror/fairing stay when the rear bolt, by the battery, is still connected.
This seems an obvious design feature to allow it to pivot up, gaining access to the petrol tap and pipe for ease of tank removal.
Both mirror/fairing stays look a bit worse for wear, so I was wondering, should the tank be able to pivot on the rear mounting bolt?
Alex.

You have thought so wouldn't you ... but no, it doesn't do it on any I've seen.

My race bike does the same thing. Either give it a good clout (thats the aircraft engineer in me speaking) OR take out the rear bolt and lift tank out, slide the front brackets under the fairing stay as far forward as you can and slide the rear back in, should all bolt up nicely

Re: 3TJ Petrol Tank Pivot.
Thanks guys, that saved me a couple of quid and hassle of finding a straight unmolested bracket!
Why, oh why was it not designed to pivot!!!
Alex.
