Chopping Subframe

Well basically i want to fit a 600RR Rear end on to my NC29

I have heard that you need to chop some of the subframe off..

I dont want to go chopping it willy nilly and find that i choped more than needed (although this would save weight) and loose fixing holes

Would someone be able to tell me how much from the rear of the subframe that i need to chop off.

Many thanks

Lee

Im looking at changing the rear end on my project nc23 but Im going to buy the tail unit first and test fit it, then Il cut the subframe after that.

to be honest if your not planning on taking pillions then it doesnt really matter if you chop of abit too much. as long as the rider seat is supported you should be fine. And if all else fails if you cut it cleanly then you could alway reweld it.

If you chop the cross supports off, you weaken the subframe substantially. Chopped subframes don't like to crash and they take the seat unit with them when they go. I'd do the job right and weld up an alu subby - steel would do the trick though.

I'm with Razortooth, no chopping required to fit a 600RR seat onto a NC29. The only issue is that the lower subframe rails are visible as the seat unit is not deep enough unless you mount it really low.
