Changing Spark Plugs and Tank Settings
im knew to the GSXR world so this might seem a bit trivial and mundane... but how do you change the spark plugs on a 76a?!
i had the tank off and did what i could to get a socket down the holes but just couldnt manage it due to the frame and thermostat housing. i dont want to have to bring the bike to a garage for such a simple and everyday (?) task. any hints/tips?
also, on the tank valve there are 3 settings - RES (reserve?), PRI (primary?) and ON (or is it NO?) does this final 1 turn the fuel off? allowing you to remove the tank from the pipe without loosing petrol?
many thanks

Re: Changing Spark Plugs and Tank Settings
Can't say as to the spark plugs mate as I can get to mine easy, are you using a long tool?
You've got the markings right for the fuel tap, you don't wanna leave it on PRI (personally I don't even see the point in that setting, maybe because I don't know it's use). If you're taking the tank off, have the switch in the ON position as this only allows petrol to flow when the engine is on. Do expect some residue in the pipe to come out as I found the first time, but this is ok, it's just fuel sitting in the lines.

Thanks
the tool is definately long enough to reach down inside the SP holes but only if there isnt a ratchet attatched to the other end lol. Might have to invest in a couple of knuckles for my socket set to figure this 1 out
student budget!!

PRI - prime, you need this to be able to fill (prime) the carb bowls if you have had the carbs off or drained them. Saves cranking the engine over for too long while the bowls are re-filling.
I never saw why it would cause much of a problem running on prime, if the float valves are working then they would stop the fuel anyway (just the same as both my Hondas which dont have complicated fuel valves that only let fuel go while engine is running, just ON, RES OFF)
I don't run my GSXR in the PRI position just in case though

Re: Changing Spark Plugs and Tank Settings
A wobbler and two extension bars (at most) should get you into any spark plug hole. Wobblers are like a universal joint for a wrench - Halfords or a proper tool shop will have them.
